Reflection maps
Creating reflections for MaxWhere
Dynamic reflections are not available in MaxWhere. If a surface needs to reflect its environment, a reflection map of that environment can be used to provide the effect.
There are two kinds of reflection maps that can be set for export.
The first is for the whole environment. This can be set in the scene properties, and in the absence of material-specific reflection maps defines the reflections on every reflecting surface. A very simple example of the effect of the default reflection map is shown below.
Reflection maps must be .dds
files. In this version no other formats are supported.
The second kind of reflection map can be set for individual materials. The format is the same as for environmental reflection maps, but this must be set in the Material Properties, at the MaxWhere properties panel, with relative (to the .blend) or full path.
DXT export helper
The MaxWhere Blender Exporter creates an Add->MaxWhere->Dxt Export Helper option at the 3D Viewport header menu. This is a placeholder for a feature yet to be developed, but when it will be ready, it will create reflection maps from certain points of the scene.
For now, reflection maps should be created outside the exporter's functions.
